Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

The infrastructure delivery team enables other engineering teams to deliver well architected solutions quickly and safely to our growing audience of internationally minded business people.

At any time the team could be working in an agile team on projects such as:

  • Designing and implementing a central solution for containers(PaaS), Linux infrastructure management and monitoring tools like Graphite, Grafana, etc in the cloud (AWS).

  • Providing self service APIs and tools that enable other delivery teams to utilise the monitoring solutions.

  • Providing support to other delivery teams at the FT and helping them utilise core SaaS infrastructure products effectively.

  • Ensuring our solutions have high engineering standards (robust, fit for purpose, include synthetic testing and/or application monitoring and meet our quality standards)

Skills and Experience

Skill Requirements
We need someone who has some exposure to working on LINUX/UNIX OS, AWS services and is familiar with one or more programming languages along with automated testing(the team uses python and bash but skills in other languages and a willingness to switch languages is also good).

Also, someone with a knowledge of or willingness to learn about continuous integration, continuous delivery pipelines and config management tools like ansible and cloudformation or terraform

Person Profile
We are looking for someone with good written, oral, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.

You should be self motivated in conducting research into infrastructure issues and products, and be able to work with a team to deliver appropriate solutions to deadlines.

You must have a strong customer focussed attitude and be comfortable working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
