Becoming a well-rounded developer usually requires you to cover a lot of skills. For beginners it might be overwhelming to understand what you need to learn and how everything gets together at the end. Topics covered during this talk:
- What it means to be a developer nowadays & what are the expectations from a company (technical skills, soft skills, tools, Agile methodologies)
- How to build or improve your brand as a developer
- How to stay focused when there are so many things to learn and avoid rabbit holes
- Introduction to Cybersecurity and Web App security
Verena Wimmer (she/her) : "How to go from zero to prototype - a guide for not-yet technical founders"
This is the story of a not-yet technical founder who went full on codebar & web tutorials in order to build a prototype for her cash-stripped social enterprise start-up. This talk highlights the ups and downs of her journey, decisions and challenges she faced around this Node / React based Web App. Her social enterprise Supply Change is a market place that helps social enterprises win more public sector work. The audience will walk away motivated to open up that terminal window, with a clear idea of where to turn to make their passion project a reality.

Niamh McCooey (she/her) : "Learning How To Learn: Getting Over Your Fear of Tech"
Have you ever felt intrigued by the idea of coding, but too overwhelmed or intimidated to ever give it a real shot? This talk will give you the tips and tools you need to help you navigate your fear of tech. Drawing on her own experience of learning how to code collaboratively at meetups and through online tutorials, Niamh will share with you how she really learnt how to learn, de-bunking perceptions of ātechie peopleā, shifting perspectives and practising the art of patience.
